Projects and calls for proposals

Government bodies

Government bodies (except for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Finance, which are the key links of Polish development assistance) carry out assistance projects or provide aid in the form of contributions to organisations, programmes and international funds (multilateral assistance). Government bodies have the ability to implement projects in the field of external assistance and development cooperation.

As part of development assistance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs cooperates, among others, with:

  • the Ministry of Economy
  • the Ministry of National Education
  • the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage
  • the Ministry of National Defence
  • the Ministry of Science and Higher Education
  • the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development
  • the Ministry of Environment
  • the Ministry of Transport and Construction
  • the Ministry of Health
  • the Office for Repatriation and Aliens

Local government units

Cooperation with local government units began in 2006. We want local government units to involve in the aid measures. Following the announcement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the possibility to submit proposals, they can submit projects in the field of cooperation for development or democratisation and civil society development. Technical and financial assessment of projects is carried out by the Department of Implementation of Development Programmes of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, based on the criteria set out in the "Guidelines".

NGOs

NGOs are one of the key partners of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in developing and implementing annual assistance plans. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is in constant dialogue with NGOs in the form of exchange of correspondence, bilateral and multilateral meetings, discussions in the form of special panels and conferences, etc. Some of them are open. Information about the planned meetings are placed at www.polskapomoc.gov.pl and can be attended by all the stakeholders. These consultations are conducted, among others, within the framework of the Development Cooperation Forum, during which several panel discussions are held annually. During such meetings, the MFA collects opinions and comments about the Polish development cooperation and then uses them when working on the newly created policy paper. Such discussions were also held during the last 4th Development Cooperation Forum. The most active players in these discussions traditionally include: the Polish Institute of International Affairs, the Centre for Eastern Studies and the Zagranica Group - an association of 49 Polish non-governmental organisations involved in international development cooperation, promotion of democracy and humanitarian assistance.

The MFA also cooperates with non-profit companies, social cooperatives, church legal persons
and organisational units, local government associations, commercial chambers and chambers of agriculture.
